Is it really expensive to be in a sorority?

It depends on what school and which sorority.  It was cheaper for me to live and eat at my sorority house than it was to live in the dorms and eat the crappy cafeteria food. The food was better too-we had a chef!   Your first semester is the most expensive because you have to pay initiation fees and buy your sorority pin etc.  But after that, it's pretty predictable.   You'll be paying for lots of social functions in your social dues; I figured it out once and realized that my semester social dues pretty much covered most of my social activities.  You'll end up buying lots of tee shirts though.
