  1. Becoming a GOOD elementary teacher that schools want to hire is challenging anywhere!  However, in New York, especially the more challenging schools, turnover is higher so there is a better chance of getting a job.  Know that teacher turnover in general is very high, as it is a high stress, high demand job, and many teachers only make it up to 5 years.

    The teaching market is slowly exiting a saturation - many of the older teachers are reaching the age of retirement and buildings are becoming younger.  It's the time to start heading to the profession!
