Is it really more expensive to eat at the Taste of Chicago?

i thought the ticket prices (which you buy at the main entrance) were too expensive! You have to buy a whole bunch at a time (which the guy behind the window will convince you is a better value). use these to "buy" the food from all the different kiosks (since they wont take any actual REAL "cash" money). this deters pick-pocketers from going around and snatching cash/credit cards from the open public so the Chicago Police Dept. can instead keep a watchful eye out for potential pranksters, arsonists, chain-vomiting, etc.

  1. I used to look forward to the Taste. That was 15 years ago. Even with the expectation that it's going to be expensive, it's absolutely ridiculous. Booze is more than at the airport or the ballpark. And you're getting less for more money every year. Add in the huge crowds and parking and its a dismal way to spend the day. Lots of Chicago neighborhoods and suburbs have festivals with better food, excellent entertainment, managable crowds, reasonable prices, and easy access to parking or public transport. Pick up a local paper and read up!

  2. yea it gets more and more expensive every  year .  i used to go to  it all the time  but now i i havent gone in about two years. due to the prices.  It   better to by the tickets at jewel It a little cheaper.

  3. Yeah - it is expensive.

Get a taste of Chicago every night at a new fun restaurant in one of the many great neighborhoods.  I find a lot from the suggestions of Check Please.

Leave the taste to the tourists.

  4. its only once a year njoy yourself

  5. yea  the prices do go up and  last year we spent $60 on tickets for 3 people and me and my aunt got sick and only had used 20 tickets out of about 50 or something the rest went to waste

  6. the prices go up by the year

  7. The thing to do is get what's called the "taste" portion from each place (they are only 3-4 tickets), or go with a friend and split some of the food. a book of tickets (12), is $ 8, so spend wisely, before you go, check online at the city website and plan what you want and where they are so you can eat and move strategically. You'll need about 3 books of tickets, but get cold water from the Walgreens on Michigan & Monroe, its only $ 1.29, you can bring it in with you, that way you save money for more food, enjoy!
