  1. Adding subs and a new deck is a good way to get the most out of the factory system.  When you install the subs add "bass blockers" in line with your factory speakers.  This will remove some of the low end that will be reproduced by your subs, allowing the factory speakers to reproduce more of the mids/highs.

  2. for most cases stock speakers cant handle the signal the amps put out .and remember, the term "sound system" includes speakers

  3. If you want to use it normally and not have it really loud, i would stick with the standard speakers, but if you want to turn it up loud then you are going to need some better speakers. and if you want it to drive down the street listening to a single bass line then your going to need an amp and some very powerful speakers, but be warned, it will blow up eventually being pushed to the level these show offs put it up to

  4. not if you already have good car speakers but if you are going to add a subwoofer you will need an amplifier which will make it pretty loud so your speakers might not be audible the way they used to be you could hook up an amp to your speakers

orrrrrrr you can just turn down the bass

  5. If you want it to sound decent then yes you need to upgrade the speakers, stock speakers are normally not rated to handle even the output of most after market decks out today.

Plus once you add the sub and sub amp, trying to push the stock speakers to keep up will cause them to distort even if they can handle the output of the deck

  6. If you want the best out of your audio you need to replace them. Factory speakers aren't meant to be pushed that much, if you add a amp and deck they won't handle it well.

  7. they will blow easy. for best performance with the audio, you would basically have to get new speakers. like punch, mtx etc...

  8. NO, and here's why.... I asked myself this question few years ago when I got a new pioneer player for my car as a present

First of all, before you get all crazy about replacing speakers... please do yourself a favor and ask around about how hard is it for your perticualar model... My car needed many parts removed (like the front doors and back seat!) and may other modification (drilling new holes in the door and adding a spacer for the rear speakers!). SO, if you asked all of that and found out it's NOT a big deal for your car, please read on...

So what did I do you say??? I went out and spent weeks researching good speakers based on prices & quality, and settled on POLKS in the 3-way in the front and 4-way in the back. (If you're cereous what 3-way and 4-way mean, it's basically a fancy way of saying what frequencies the speakers are able to reproduce. A speaker with a super tweeter, a tweeter (high pitch), and cone (mid and low pitch) would be a 4-way speaker cuz it can "technically" play all 4 frequencies (extra high, high, mid, low)) ANYWAYSS... making my story a bit shorter... they were PRETTY NICE speakers, that cost ~$100 a set, and took many hours to install (the rear speakers are always a hassle). The end result you ask??? Indeed a Much clearer sound, though the base was GONE

So to fix it all, I went and bought an amp and a sub, and finally everything started to sound Sweet!! but that set me another ~$200 behind. I did some more research later, and found out that ALL the speakers out there that can reproduce a quality sound (which is what you're probably looking for) need an accompanying amp to really get that base out of them, and them maybe you won't need a sub.

Another important point to mention... If I took my fancy system and ran sound lousy music through it from a CD I burned from downloaded songs, Radio, or even my MP3 player (I had a connection for that), that sound wasn't anything but normal (minus the bass, cuz u can always hear that sucker pumping, lol)

Bottom line... just because u just got a new head unit, it doesn't mean need new speaker to run it!!(no your not gonna blow up anything or ruine ur new head unit). So, if this is your getting through college or HS car, please save yourself the hassle and money... I loved the system while I had it (which is what everyone would tell you to do), but looking back at it, I might have not done it at all.

The only thing I’m adding to my new car now is a base, cuz I kinda miss how my car shacked before ;)

    Good luck!
