Question:

Is it really necessary to upgrade to Windows XP3?

Windows tells me that Windows XP3 is ready for installation. Windows also recommends that I back up my computer system. I don't know how to back up! Would it be safe to install without backup? Or is the upgrade unnecessary and so should I ignore it?

  1. do you mean SP3? The Upgrade isn't vital, but if you do decide to install it, it will back-up automatically.

  2. get the backup details off microsoft.com

then add the sp3 update and the daily updates

  3. Well sometime in the future Microsoft will stop issuing updates unless you have service pack 3 installed. I would highly recommend installing it but only after you have backed up the files (your docements, pics, eetc..) on CD. If sservicepack 2 is anything to go by then it could stop your computer working, I was lluckily when I installed service pack 2 as only the start bar on one log-in account stop working but known other computer that stopped working.
