Is it really never to late?

I am 45, my father is 73. He is still very active, still runs his own business and still has that you'l better behave look. Truly an incredible man. At my age he still says, "It's never to late to try new things, change your career, get out and be crazy". Would you agree with that, or is there a certain time in ones life when "crazy" isn't an option anymore?

  1. I absolutely agree.  Why on earth would anyone disagree? If somebody has always wanted to be something but never had the time/money/support and suddenly they do - why wouldn't they go ahead? I know a woman who was married and working in an office, then at 55 her husband died and she was left with a small pension, she said "feck this" and went back to college, she is now a barrister and having a great time, remarried to another barrister and life is great! You must fill you life, not sit around, being careful, that rainy day may never come - get out there when the sun is shining and enjoy yourself!!!

Going to a music festival might not be "crazy" when your 30 but would be considered "crazy" at 70! Do whatever feels good - Crazy is in the eye of the beholder!!!

  2. I agree with your father its never to late to do whatever you want to do. Crazy is always an option believe me.

  3. I think that if you can still think of crazy things you can do or have always wanted to do, then why not do it. As long as you can find some time, money and the need to go out and be crazy, then by all means, go have some fun, go on an adventure, or pretend to be something you've always wanted to be.

  4. I agree with your father 100% Very smart Man,

  5. I agree with your father!!! Although I was thinking of something else when I read your question!!!

  6. I agree completely. At the age of 58 when the last of the children went away to university, I crazily fulfilled a lifetime dream and trained as an actor. I'm now starting to get work in small scale theatre, short films and a tiny role on TV.

So yes, it's never too late!

Three cheers for the old and crazy! Lets celebrate growing old disgracefully!

  7. I can retire at any time now and when I do, I plan on returning to school to ready myself for a second career...something that I would enjoy doing for another few years (besides enjoying my leisure time), so I do agree with your father...he sounds like a wise man.

  8. Oh course it's never to late if you really want what you want! If you're not willing to go for it, then it is.

  9. Your father is right it's never to late. Build up that confidence a soar into something new.

  10. Your dad is very right in every way. The only time it is to late to make a change in your life is when you have passed away. If you find something out there that you like better than what you are doing, go do it. It really isn't crazy if it is something that you want to do, now other folks might think it is crazy but are not the ones doing it, it is you. If want to do it and it makes you happy then I say go for it.

  11. Mo, life is an adventure! Not a destination! I am also about your age and I am re creating my self! time for something new after 23 yrs!!!There is much to learn from >any< wise person! ENJOY!

  12. It's never too late but it may be too difficult.

  13. your father sounds like he's got it all together.

  14. I've been crazy most of my life, I think. Actually last time I got out and got crazy, I screwed up a lot of things in my life. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I'm sure that is not what your father meant, but he sounds like an inspiring man, sounds much like my father, though mine is 84.

  15. I'm 52 - just started in the last 5 years doing and trying new things - now with an empty next it's time for ME.  My father will be 80 and always doing new things and trying new things and HIS mother (my granny) is 99 and busy planning her own 100th birthday.  She could run circles around us - I lose her in Walmart everytime!!!!

No as long as we have good mental and physical health - it's never too late.  That is why good health is so important.
