Question:

Is it really pertinent to my salvation if I believe in the "Trinity" or not?

I still know that Jesus is my Savior, that He atoned for my sins and died that i might live again. Why is it wrong that I don't believe He is actually God? I believe that God, our Heavenly Father, is a separate being.

  1. Hmm.  Well, ...I stopped going to church because the church claimed that Jesus was God.  I read the Bible, and I found no evidence for their claim.

However, I started reading the Bible some more, and I realized that the Bible didn't make a lot of sense.  So, I did some researching on the internet.  I would constantly study the Bible and internet to find the truth of christianity.  Then, I came to the conclusion that I was no longer a christian.  I have been an atheist for a while now...and I can honestly tell you that I am a much happier and more intelligent person.  Just TRY it...go to www.godisimaginary.com

I was skeptical at first because I used to be christian, but just TRY visiting the website with an open mind.  An open mind is much better than a closed one.  ...It allows for truth to come in, and falsity's to go out.  www.godisimaginary.com           What have you got to lose?

  2. It takes away the strength of who He really was

when you dont understand the Mystery.........

That God Hisself died for YOU!!!!

    1 Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

  3. Here, let me give a piece of hidden christian knowledge lost for 1600 years .....

There is no actual jesus.  And your "salvation" will not be found anywhere, except within you.  Its a metaphor for the divinity within you.  Acknowledge that you yourself are divine, that you have that spark, that touch of your god, that YOU are a christ yourself (remember, christ means anointed or blessed), and that is the kingdom of heaven that is spoken of.  That will free you.  And your old self will die, absolve you of your sins, and you are reborn.

  4. No, it is not.

  5. I have been to many Christian churches. Catholic, Mormom, Jehova's Witnesses and most Non-Denominational churches. I have read most of the New Testament and parts of the Old Testament.

I consider myself a Christian with an open mind. I believe all major religions have something to teach us about God and how to live a prosperous life, it's just a matter of interpretation. I also see the Bible as the word of God, and as so, I try to follow some simple Bible passages:

    Luke 18:18-29; John 3:1-21; John 13:34-35; John 14:21;

    John 15:12-13; Acts 1:5; Acts 2:17-21; Acts 2:37-38;

    Acts 16:30-31

Search for the Kingdom of God and he will show you the way.

  6. to everyone who  is about to give me a thumbsdown, read my answer completely and take the challenge.

You have twisted beliefs! You claim to follow the teachings of Isa (Jesus) peace be upon him but you invent false characters to represent him and you make up lies claiming that he is the son of Allah (God)! Glory be to Allah (God) , far above everything that you associate in worship with him. He is Allah the ONE, The Eternal The Absolute, He beggets not nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable to Him!

Do not even consider converting him to lies! I recommend you do your research, you will not find anything of your current to be true because you don't even believe in one God anymore! you worship a prophet, how shameful is that!

And believe me , Jesus (pbuh) never claimed to be God or the son of God! He only called the misguided Jews back to the truth! He callled them to monotheism and to worship Allah (God) only!

And some of the people believed him, while others chose to disbelieve. And the disbelievers plotted and schemed their evil plans. THey planned to crucify but Allah (God) planned otherwise and verily Allah is the best of planners. HE rose Jesus (pbuh) up to Heaven and caused one of their own to look like Jesus(pbuh) so that they would believe him to be Jesus (pbuh)! And they killed that man while they knew noth that Jesus(pbuh) was safe.

Those whom Jesus (pbuh) had taught and they believed, they are a great people. But soon people began to get confused, they began to associtate Jesus(pbuh) with some divinity. THey began to think that he was God's son! So they worshipped him! and they thought that God's anngel was a Holy Ghost, so they called Jibra'il (Gabriel) the Holy Ghost and created a fake tale of a Holy trinity.

So Allah sent His final Prophet to call them back to monothiesm. And when he did the sensible people believed him while the others did not. And Muhammad(pbuh) told us that Jesus(pbuh) has not died and that he will return one day. Jesus(pbuh) will break the cross, kill the swine, and abolish the jizya. He will kill the Dajjal(anti-Christ) and be a leader for the Muslims. He (pbuh) will rule by the Qur'an and will accept no religion but Islam from the people.

And if you are in doubt then wait and see, Allah has promised this and verily, Allah is NOT a liar.

The Bible has been edited and altered so much now, it is full of lies. And from your logic, destroy the Qur'an, or even create a single verse like in it. This verse must match it in truth, elegence, beauty, etc. Like God say's in the Holy Qur'an:

"And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, Christians, etc) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e in the Qur'an) to Our slave [Muhammad (pbuh)] then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah if you are truthful." (Qur'an 2:23)

"But if you do it not, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (h**l) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers."

    (Qur'an 2:24)

I'll even give you a little help, here's the translation of the shortest Surah in the Qur'an. Just read this, write your little fake, translate it in Arabic and english and show it to me. Here it is, with a transliteration and translation.

    TRANSLITERATION:

    Bismillhirahmanir-rahim.

    1.Inaaaaaaaaaaa-'athainah-kal-kauwthat...

    2.Fasal-leelee-rrab-beeka-wonharr.

    3.Inna-shani-aka-hoowal-abbatarr.

    TRANSLATION:

In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1.Verily, We have granted you [ O Muhammad (pbuh)] Al-Kautharr (a river in Paradise).

2.Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only).

3.For he who hates you [O Muhammad (pbuh)], he will be cut off (from posterity and everything good in this world and in the Hereafter).

  7. God gave us the Bible to study and learn about Him religious doctrine does not always agree with the Bible.

You must choose that which you consider correct.

  8. They kind of go Hand in hand.  Believing in Christ as in His entirety, (believing in all of the bible) then you kinda have to believe in the Trinity, given the word Trinity isn't in the bible.  Its a term used to describe the three.  All three beings are represented, All three are connected.

  9. This is a tough one, and I'm not yet up to speed on scriptural support, so please take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The bible says that our relationship with Jesus is what saves us, not our belief in His nature. Trinitarians might conclude that denying the Trinity could be a sign that you do not know the real Jesus. Jesus did say "I and the Father are one." This was not int he context of one purpose as many try to say, but in the context of one being.

Keep praying and searching. Ignore doctrines of the churches and go strait to the word of God. If you have an open heart and open mind, Jesus will make Himself  and His nature clear to you.

  10. Well I believe you are right I don't believe in the Trinity in the traditional sense, as 3 in 1.   I believe in God, the Father, His son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost.   Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ at the same time as did Stephen in the new testament at the same time and knew they were separate

  11. Your right God is a separate being ask any Bible student.

  12. You said you believe that Jesus is your Savior, that He died for your sins that you might live again. Do you also believe, which I do, that He is The Christ, that He is Jesus Christ? That He is The Messiah? Do you also agree and believe that there is only one way to Heaven, and that is by believing in Jesus Christ as Lord of our life and that as a believer we are to have a personal relationship with Him after accepting Him into our hearts?

Is it true that your faith believes Jesus is only a prophet? I am not putting you down for your faith, just asking you, what you believe Jesus is as far as your faith?

I believe He is God. God the Father, the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I realize the Trinity is hard to understand for some people. It was hard for me to understand and sometimes I find it hard to explain. I usually get my husband to explain it because he went to Bible college and I didn't. What I know for sure is that I do fully believe in Jesus Christ as the only way to Heaven and I pray you do as well.

If you would like to add any feedback, click on add to or edit or something, and I'll check back on Thursday. TTYL :-)  Thanks! & good question by the way!

  13. Read the Bible for yourself, and you will find the answer. You could begin with John's Gospel.

Not what others say, or what books about the Bible say (although they can help on understanding historical context, etc.)

But if you want biblical proof, see: http://www.christian-thinktank.com/trin0...

Also, to those who recommend a place about God being imaginary, the arguments are not good, if you know better. Try, for instance:

  14. Will a pacific islander who has never heard of Christianity go to h**l for his "pagan" beliefs?

  15. Jesus said: "If you do not believe I am He, you will die in your sins." The question you should have asked was: "Do I need to believe that Jesus is God?"

The Trinity is merely a way to declare the concept of the three manifestations of the One God.

You cannot be saved by believing Jesus was just a man. He had to be God in the flesh or else His death meant nothing.

If I were you, I would do all the research I could on this issue before you dismiss it as non meaningful. You eternal salvation depends upon you solving this issue.

  16. yes if you don't believe that jesus is GOD . quote from jesus in the bible. jesus said if you don't believe that I AM you will die in your sin. he used the I AM from exodus here and several other places in the bible. john 8 ;24

  17. No! The Trinity is a made of doctrine from one of the Christian Councils. I think the Council of Nicea. This is where a bunch of men got together and voted on which books would be considered holy and which doctrines that would be offical Christian doctrines. Jesus NEVER taught the concept of Trinity.

  18. I am sure, that G-d the way you understand him is good enough, Jesus either died for sin or he did not, much difficulty has come from some people thinking what they believe is the only thing that works. They are simply wrong. G-d seems to be tolerant of open mindedness and simple willingness even if some of those who claim to follow Him do not.

Paul in the new testament tells those who read his writings not to argue about the inturpetation of scripture.

It is better for people to look at how we are the same instead of how we are differant.

  19. Yes it is important.

If Jesus is not God, then Jesus is a liar since He said He is God.

If Jesus is a liar, He died for His own sins and not yours, not mine.

In John chapter 8 Jesus said:  (KJV)

24I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Now if you read that in context, you'll Jesus was claiming to be God.

    And again in verse 58 & 59

58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

59Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Her Jesus claimed to be the great "I am" Who spoke to Moses out of the burning bush.

You know that the Jews who heard Jesus say this understood that Jesus claimed to be God because they picked up stones to kill him right then and there.

Now read this from John chapter 10:

30I and my Father are one.

31Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

Yes, Jesus is God and Jesus is the Creator.

  20. The cool thing about religion is that you can make it up as you go.

The fact that there is no definite answer to your question should make you question things.

Be a nice to other people.

Try to make a good life for yourself.

    It's that simple.

  21. It actually depends on the denomination, but what you just described is close to  the literal interpretation of the Trinity, God the Father IS a seperate being from jesus. they both have the energy and the "essence" of God, but both have seperate wills, the reason being is that Jesus was of Gods own essence but quite literally a seperate entity able to make his own decisons and he was human form, thus having human..."issues" so to say, for the lack of a better term, but if you want it in the simplest terms so  you can stop worrying about it, "Proponents of the doctrine agree, explaining that the nature of God is beyond human comprehension, and attempts to fit God within human ideas is itself an error." after all, Christ himself said "The wisdom of God is folly to man" nuff said,  as for it being "pertinent to your salvation" i SINCERELY doubt God or Christ will fault you for having a slightly differing opinion on your personal conceptual idea(s) of God and how he shows himself to each person, after all, All the Trinity truly is, is a concept that man used to categorize or attempt to perceive God in a way we can truly understand, and aside from that, if any fundie or any other religous zealot tells you differently just remember that regardless of other people God and Christ know whats in your heart and where your soul lay and he will awnser your questions for you on this if you ask.   After all....."ask and you shall receive!"

i hope this helped!  God bless

    Sincerely

    Daniel

  22. I'm not sure. But it seems to me that there's a huge difference between being God and not being God.  Paul seemed to be pretty concerned about people having a "different Jesus" (compare 2 Corinthians 11:4 with Galatians 1:6-10).  A Jesus who is God cannot be the same Jesus as one who is not God.  That's just too big of a difference.  Only the real Jesus can save, so you can't be saved if you place your faith in a false Jesus.  If Jesus is God, then people who place their faith in a Jesus who is not God cannot be saved by that false Jesus.  If Jesus is NOT God, then people who place their faith in a Jesus who IS God cannot be saved by THAT false Jesus.  Maybe there's a flaw in my reasoning, which is why I initially said I'm unsure. But it seems to me that the issue of whether Jesus is God or not is pretty important, because it answer the question, "Who is Jesus?"

EDIT:  Ali B gets his information from Dan Brown.  He doesn't know what he's talking about.

  23. The death of a mere man would be meaningless, no matter how little he sinned. Only the death of someone as divine as our Lord God could make up for the sins of all generations.

  24. "Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one."   [John 10:25-30 NIV]

    _____

Honestly?  If you don't believe that Jesus is the second person of the Trinity, then you basically are calling Him a liar and saying that He isn't who He said He is.  And if that is what you believe to be truth then you have no basis of being saved by Him because you have no faith in what He said.   Salvation is free but it is conditional--based on your faith in what Jesus did but also based on who He is.  (See John 3:15-18)

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?sea...

He is either who He said He is or (by your reasoning--not mine), His whole "story"--His words--His word--God's word--becomes one huge fabrication.

Do you want the truth or do you want to believe what you think by your own reasoning?  What you believe does not change the truth.

    ______

Again...  Jesus said:  "I and the Father are one."  [John 10:30  KJV]

You either believe or you don't.  If you don't believe, what is the status of your personal salvation?

****"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."[Proverbs 3:5-6  KJV]****

  25. Yes, it is important to believe in the Trinity.

  26. If you are a Cathaholic, it might be!  Not if you are a Forgive Affirmed Spirit though!

Life does not always seem FAIR!

Hi!  I am a Forgive Affirmed Spirit and this is what I profess and try to act like.

Forgive Affirmed Spirit is the belief in a way of life that is a method of grief resolution and functional communication processing involving active listenning, sympathy, empathy and affirmation of shock, denial, anger, guilt, depression, loneliness and hope...a kind of ego-equilibrium seeking methodology.

A Greater Works of communication and action, a way to learn to love your enemies "Advocating mortal life, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you AS IF YOU WERE THEM!"

And nobody is perfect!  NOBODY!  We are all judgeable, hopefully in a graceful discerning way!   We are all doing our best every moment!

Humans judge everything  as we are a part of it.  Without difference, we have nothing to live for, nothing to witness.  Sin is difference, the relative seriousness with regards to law and survival of other beings, is punishable by the courts. The best way to judge is with as much graceful discernment as one can muster in a given moment!

Life is the question(uncertainty) asked by the exhaling infinitely compacted imagination invention, or no thing, which is completely certain of everything, completely omniscient or all knowing.

When I die, I believe I will be in a new state, aware of all that is and yet divided into the nature of dust that I am in, whereupon my dust shall fall.  My being will remain an infinite part of an infinite being and infinite knowledge without my material human being status of now. So there will be a change.

But my soul, my passions and discompassions, will move on to infinite places of comfort and challenge.  Able to return to this state of uncertainty and free choice illusion for another ride when it is called effectively to do so.

So that the children of God, the creations of God, .. are actually part in parcel of that God or Creation Energy!

This  life is a roller coaster ride. Enjoy your passion within it and whatever gathering of two or more in Forgive Affirmed Spirit to make it better can garner.

Healing be unto you and yours and me and mine in

    Forgive Affirmed Spirit

  27. I'm not sure if salvation is affected but I might think it would. If Jesus was not God, he would've died for nothing.

  28. I can't tell you how to believe, but the Trinity is biblical.

    Matt 3:16-17

  29. No. And as a Mormon, you know you have the correct concept of our Father in Heaven. You can't waste time on, or worry about, people who are not seeking truth.

  30. The teachings of the Church contradict the teachings of Jesus (pbuh) and that is the cause of the confusion.

If a sincere christian who wants to follow Jesus (peace be upon him), asks priests about trinity, the answer that he gets is "It is a Mystery, not explained by Jesus (pbuh) clearly", at that time again those forget that Jesus (pbuh) said,

"I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing" (John 18:20 (NKJ)).

If trinity is confusing enough to be called a mystery, it cannot be from God. Because:

"God is not a God of confusion."—1 Corinthians 14:33, Revised Standard Version (RS).

There was no mystery in the message of Jesus (pbuh), nothing secret. Will you accept the priests' so called "mystery of trinity" and forget clear commandments of Jesus (pbuh)?

    Jesus (pbuh) clearly said:

    A) Mark 12:29: "the Lord our God, the lord is One".

    B) Metthew: 26:39: "He went a little farther and fell on His face and prayed" (Following Jesus (pbuh) way is following what he did). Jesus (pbuh) prayed to one God

    C) Matthew 4:10 "You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve"

    D) John 5:19: "Most truly I say to you, the son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative but only what he beholds the father doing."

    E) Matthew 19:17. "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."

    F) John 7:16  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me

    G) Matthew 27:46:  "Eloi (Allah?) , Eloi, lama sabachthani?" -- which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

    (H) Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:  John 8:54

The trinity is a doctrine from about the year 325 AD, It has its roots in polytheism, It is not in the bible unless you really, really stretch it to fit. Jesus didn't have to hide the concept of trinity if it were the basis of salvation.

The New Catholic Encyclopedia - 1967, VOL. XIV, PAGE 299:

The formulation "one God in three Persons" was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, PRIOR TO THE END OF THE 4TH CENTURY. But it is precisely this formulation that first claimed to title "The Trinitarian Dogma. AMONG THE APOSTOLIC FATHERS, THERE HAD BEEN NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY APPROACHING SUCH A MENTALITY OR PERSPECTIVE.

You should not accept the word “son” literally . Word "son" was used in bible for general human beings and other prophets also. "we all are the children of father in heavens" indicates that word "son" was used in different meaning of love and care. Mathew: 5:9. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.”

Jesus , Moses, Mohammad (peace be upon them), they all worshiped the same God, the God of Ibrahim (pbuh). All prophets taught "surrendering one's will to God" that is the meaning of word "Islam". JAMES 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

There was just not one holy book sent by God on earth through His messengers. The last testiment "Quran" had to be there  from the same source, with many similarities, but correcting mistakes in earlier ones made by humans.

Muslims love Jesus (pbuh), they believe in his miraculous birth with the will of God without a father or sexual act (the way Adam was born without a mother and father), , they believe in miracles that Jesus (pbuh) performed with permission of God, muslims faith demands them to believe Jesus (pbuh) was a great prophet of God and belief in the original message of Jesus (pbuh) the massaya.

Qur’an, revealed to the Prophet Muhammed (an illiterate person, who didn't know how to read or write) some 600 years after Jesus (pbuh) corrects the errors that crept (knowingly or unknowingly) into the message that Jesus (pbuh) brought. This book was not preserved on paper or in one church but in hearts of thousands of muslims who memorised Quran word by word the way it was revealved. After Mohammad (pbuh), there was not even one dispute about a word of Quran in compiling it.. Quran should prove to be a very valuable asset to both Muslims and Christians.

Quran: [4:171] O people of the scripture, do not transgress the limits of your religion, and do not say about GOD except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus (pbuh), the son of Mary, was a messenger of GOD, and His word that He had sent to Mary, and a revelation from Him. Therefore, you shall believe in GOD and His messengers. You shall not say, "Trinity." You shall refrain from this for your own good. GOD is only one god. Be He glorified; He is much too glorious to have a son. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. GOD suffices as Lord and Master. [5:73] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is a third of a trinity. There is no god except the one god. Unless they refrain from saying this, those who disbelieve among them will incur a painful retribution.
