Question:

Is it really possible to find merit in domination and dependency?

So often I find myself surprised by posters who can defend domination and dependency in human beings.

How is this possible?

What would be the benefit in human societies for

1) domination?

2) dependency?

Who wants to be dominated? Haven't we seen enough groups fight back against those dominating? Haven't we seen that it doesnt work?

What person can defend dependency in a society? Why should one group be dependent on another? Isn't that an idea destined to fail?

Why are we as humans still defending these systems.

Aren't they unnatural and illogical?

  1. Not for me. But I think it depends on the environment and culture in which a person was raised. Some people know nothing except domination and dependency. Others of us have experienced independence and free thought and would never dream of wanting to be submissive and depedent on anyone.

  2. no

  3. it matters not whether you 'defend' dominance or not.  if you have craving for your partner to be dominant in your relationship, you are likely to be a lot happier if you get it.  I certainly am.  Suppressing your desires does not, in the end, lead to happiness, but only to frustration.  There is no point in pretending that you do not desire something when you do.  That is not to say it should be compulsory, merely that it is a way of relating to someone that does suit a considerable number of people (judging by what I read on the Internet).

As for being dependent, if you are in a relationship where there is affection between you, then to a certain extent you are emotionally dependent on your partner.  Whether or not you are financially dependent is irrelevent as far as I am concerned.  most women nowadays are not financially dependent on their husbands, and are presumably much happier with that.  I personally am quite happy to be financially dependent on my husband, it doesn't bother me at all.  I am NOT going to wear myself out 'juggling', and that is that as far as I am concerned.
