My husband, my five year old daughter and I are flying to DC on a Friday and returning on a Sunday. My daughter has never flown and I have only flown once. I did not do well my first time and I want this to be the best possible experience for my daughter. I was wondering if I might be able to somehow finagle an upgrade, any suggestions?

  1. Airlines don't give out too many free upgrades to first class any more.  These days you pretty much have to be a frequent flyer with some type of preferred status.

  2. It's possible, but not likely.  If there are empty seats in first class, they usually give them to frequent flier members.  But it's their discretion, so who knows.

  3. Free upgrade?  In a word, NO. The first class seats are more money, and frequent flyers trade miles for them. The chances of  you getting a free upgrade are about the same as you going into a car dealer and getting a free upgrade to a Caddy from a Chevy. Sorry.

    Regards,

  4. i agree with BP JR

  5. I have heard of people flying in their uniform and if they have empty seats, the stewardess telling them they can go to first class. Might be uncomfortable in uniform on a plane though, I never tried it.
