Is it really so much BYB tonight or ...?

just young people that really have not seen, read or heard the horror stories that the rest of have. So many just love the idea of seeing lot of puppies. Some are innocent in the way things really are. We can teach them or scare them. If we scare them, they will go somewhere else, or worse...try to figure it out for themselves.

  1. I think you are somewhat correct.  This is a transient forum.  I've only been on here about 7 months or so and I've seen lots of people come and go.  So, I know that there are alot of idiots on here and trolls but I like to come on here to see the diversity and to help people understand some of this stuff.  I know that I've helped a few people because they have let me know that my advice saved their dog's life and if I have to put up with a bunch of yo-yos on here occasionally then it might just be worth it.  Sometimes I have to take a break for a day or so because it gets on my nerves but I'm right back here because I love dogs and want to help and I don't know everything so I learn alot on here also.

  2. I-I am eleven years old and I may get an aussie puppy, ad if I do Im probably going to have puppies-Not just to 'see a lot of puppies' but to experience birth and just to have my dog have something to care for and love-I really am not swayed by anything anyone on yahoo!answers has to say about 'OMG u r gonna kill ur dog y r u havin puppyz w/ ur dog u r like a byb in trayning omg'

Yea. Nt gonna sway me at all. I refuse to get my dog sapyed, and here is why:

People will say about all the horrible things that can happen to an unspayed dog, but there is way more risk when a dg has an operation. WAY more risk. Its like if your appendix was fine, and your mom just said 'Okay honey I know your appendix is okay but there is a small chance that you might get a disease because of it so we're gonna remove it'... Um yea like NO. Thats just like spaying a dog.

Also people say about pet overpopulation-Well then why are people aloud to have babies? There are more people than we can feed or build homes for, so, thats it no more babies. Thats it. All women have to be spayed, all men have to be neutered. No more babies.

    Yea. Thats my point.

Okay, so now that my rant is over, would you like a cupcake??

    Luv,

  3. With some people that are asking, they might be swayed with a careful answer, to learning the consequences of backyard breeding and the risks in breeding dogs in general.  There seem to be a lot of people advertising their dogs for breeding tonight also though, looking for a stud dog or whatever.  Some (like the doberman question) say right up front their dog has no papers, and doesn't care what anyone says.  I don't think he or she could have been disuaded from being a BYB no matter what anyone said or how informative or convincing the answer might be.

    add: to Moon Wolf

    - seeing as you're 11, people will probably cut you some slack for your misinformed answer.  There are 7 puppies and kittens born every day, for each human baby born in the USA.   So unless the hospitals are sending home a litter of puppies with every newborn baby--there are just not enough homes physically possible for every shelter dog or cat.  I didn't make up those figures, they're from the Humane Society of the United States.

As far as surgical risk, you're wrong again.  Major complications occur in 4% of spay/neuters, death in less than 0.1 %.  One text quotes pyometra as occurring in around 0.6% of b--ches, increasing to 66% of b--ches over 9.  Another study identified 9% of female admissions were for pyometra (reviewed by [28]).   In a colony of Beagles, 15% of b--ches over the age of 4 developed pyometra [31].      The risk of developing mammary cancer is reported to be significantly reduced if b--ches are spayed before 2.5 years of age [33].  Risks compared with risk in intact b--ches (not all of whom develop mammary tumours) increase from 0.5%, to 8%, to 26%, depending upon whether a b--ch is spayed before her first heat, second, or third season and thereafter, respectively

So you can see, with a female dog risks involved in a spay procedure are much less than allowing the b_ch to continue intact.

  4. I'm quite young but I always got told stories about puppy mills (not so much backyard breeders) and I steered clear of buying one from one. Mainly because I couldn't love a dog and then have it die 2 weeks later. I believe that puppy mill dogs still should be loved, but there are places where people would prefer to get their dog from, even the younger people. My brother got his dog from a pet shop, not knowing that it's highly likely that she came from a mill. He was in his late 20s then and so it's not just typically young people that don't know exactly where the dogs come from that are buying them.

I don't know if I answered the question or anything, but yeah, that's just my view on it.

Moonwolf person.. You don't know anything.. Really you don't know anything about what you're talking about. The world is mainly popularized by humans. However, there are many more non-pet people to pet people. That's why there is an over-popularization of dogs, okay. Places like china have a one child per household law. They have to obey it. Clearly you haven't heard of this rule.

However, places like Australia, have heaps of space. I've heard it's like 1 person per square kilometer (just under a mile). There is a heap of room. The problem with homeless is that they have no money, usually have drug-addictions and people who do have money don't know if they really are homeless (some people have been known to dress like a homeless person in order to get free cash). I never give my money to homeless, except for one person.. who was at the same place day in and day out. You could tell he was homeless. You are uneducated about this issue.

Sure a desexing operation can go wrong, but operations go wrong any day, with any animal including us. Mistakes happen, but they don't happen every time.

  5. That's just it. So only want someone on here to justify what they are doing and it does happen. Even when they are told in the nicest of ways they will send that person the rudest msg known to man or even better say that we don't know them, their animals etc

We have people who do it because they can make a quick buck the puppies, the 'accidents', or those who think having to get an "overpriced" pure bred or a "dirty and sick" shelter dog is wrong so they will be the ones to supply their friends and family with animals

ADD: and moon wolf babe is EXACTLY what I am talking about. Personally I hope her parents have the brains to spay the animals when she's at school. What she's gonna do throw a tantrum?
