Is it really such a bad thing if your baby is a late bloomer?

Not saying that my child is, but I would probably much rather have my son do things a little more spaced out so we know that we aren't going to miss out on them. What is your take on this?

  1. no its not, theres no put pushing your child to do anything its best to let them get on with, my little cousin was a late bloomer when it came to talking, he always knew exactly what it was you were talking about and he would always make it clear what he wanted he just wouldnt say the actual words or sentances, anyway everyone was really worried about him, taking him to speech therapy etc trying to work out why and even they said the same he will talk when hes ready, hes now 3 and chats away to anyone and everyone, children get there in there own time and like you said least you wont miss any of those special moments

  2. I think it's just as fun to have an early bloomer as it is to have a late bloomer.   Personally, my baby is an early bloomer.  He's 4 months old and 18 lbs and 28 inches.  It's sad to me to see new born babies that are so small because I never had a small baby.  He was almost 10 lbs from birth so I never felt like I had to be super gentile with him.  Also, the time is going so fast with my son because he's so much bigger than other babies his age.  I feel like late bloomers would give you more time to enjoy a small baby.  No one ever wants their babies to grow up!

  3. I have been teaching for 3 years and I can tell you that every child is different. Some get things right away and are really independant, and some need a lot of help and practice before they get things. It's not a bad thing at all. Some children just need the extra time, help, love and support of parents teachers and caregivers. I teach over 90 children a week and you can only imagine the wide array of learners I have. Some need me more than others and we just have to learn how to be patient and confident in knowing that they will be able to do whatever it is they are learning on their own soon :).
