  1. I just say Ramen. But it fines to say both.

  2. No.

  3. No because you are talking about a certain type of noodle -  ramen noodles as opposed to say, soba noodles, udon noodles or rice noodles etc.

Also, remember that English is a Germanic language too and that, rightly or wrongly,  it follows some of the same rules of word formation that German and the Scandinavian tongues do. In German they are called:  Ramen nudeln, Soba Nudeln, Udon Nudeln and Reis-Nudeln .

  4. For me, "ramen" is the complete, soupy meal (noodles, broth, meat, etc). To say "ramen noodles" means just the noodles.

Just a tidbit of extra information, "ramen" is actually the Japanese way of pronouncing the original Chinese word for ramen, which was 撈麵 (lāomiàn, "lo mein").

  5. Does "Ramen" mean "noodles"?  Then it's just like saying "Shrimp Scampi", isn't it?
