Is it required to pay an employee funural pay?

My mom died last week, and I took 3 days off work am I entitled to pay for those 3 days i was off

  1. If you have vacation time coming sure. They are not obligated to pay you for those days.

It sounds like you're an hourly employee.  Yes, I would definitely go to human resources or check your employee handbook.  Also, your boss usually can make the decision to pay you or not.  He would just add that time to your time card.  It wouldn't be questioned and it's not fraud if it doesn't go against the company's strict policy.  Most companies understand bereavement, especially if it's a close relative.

  3. If you work for the government, you are usually given a few days off with pay.  Private sector employees do not have to give paid time off for deaths in the family,and many require you to use your vacation time (if you are given any) if you want to be paid.

  4. Condolences,  But no, sorry, the employer isn't required to pay funeral pay although many do.

  5. I'm so sorry for your loss.  I'm also sorry that there is no requirement that your employer pay you for those days.  It stinks.

  6. Only if your employer offers that type of benefit.  Some do, many don't.
