Is it required to prove English language ablity for UK work permit holders before visa stamping?

I hold a 5 years valid work permit from UK. Soon I am going for entry visa stamping in Chennai, India along with my dependents passports.

its nt that much required..bt english language ability will help with

your plus point..it will get easier for u n for the authorities..

Yes the law has now been changed, i think it was this year in-fact, you must now be able to talk basic English. I'm not sure if you have to provide prove, more like sit a test that you have to pass.
