  1. YES he should be sending air support into Georgia now as well as troops and navy support

  2. Is it OK to ignore what is happening?

G.B. can't win, if he helps people who are being abused he is called evil, if he ignores it he is called evil. I guess you can't make a liberals happy these days.

  3. Diplomatically and through the UN (I know the UN is almost worthless).

Any military moves would expand the conflict possibly out of control.

And Russia knows this full well.

  4. he is a crimminal who knowingly fabricated fraudulent reasons to invade Iraq...he belongs in prison with Cheney...they have betrayed this nation who trusted them to care for it!! we now owe trillions, have 4000 dead and sky high oil with job loss....that is treason!!!

  5. Yes, I think he should if it effect this country.

  6. Did Russia get involved when the US invaded Iraq? Answer that, and you have my answer. Russia is doing the same thing the US has been doing for years, only more openly.

  7. No, the best thing he can do is hold neutral talks and send in U.N peacekeepers. As this is a very volatile situation, peacekeepers need to be sent in to prevent the violence from escalating any further. However, I feel because we transported Georgian troops, any chance of the U.S claiming to be neutral would be almost like a joke to Russia now. The war was Georgia's doing so they should face up to responsibility and deal with their own wars because the U.S shouldn't have to fight them for them.

  8. He will be vilified if he does something. He will be vilified if he does nothing.

  9. Yes but he won't. He has cosied up to Putin since 911, and been taken in by Putin's pretence of being an ally in the war on terror.

  10. George Bush needs to do something safe for the Americans? George Bush not jumping to conclusions? Didn't he do that already with Iran? Didn't he jump to conclusions with Saddam? Didn't he rashly invade Afghanistan? Didn't he already keep you Americans safe from the women and children of Iran? Hasn't he already cocooned you from the rest of the world yet?

And you think the son of a betch should have a friggin say on Russia's conflict with Georgia?

    LIKE WHAT?

  11. George Bush has no right to get involved in the Russia and Georgia conflict.

  12. No not our beef so he should keep his beak out of THEIR squabble...we have our own problem to s***w up

  13. What's the difference? No body's heard him in 7 yrs.

  14. what?? dont tell me he is sending troops!

  15. To the answer before me tl;dr.

But there are 2 conflicting arguments.

    1. We are America, we can do as we please.

    Opposing:

    2. It's George Bush, he's stupid and therefore should have no rights.

  16. no it is not right!

  17. Bush started this mess in the first place, there is no doubt Georgia would never had dared to attack S.Ossetia, without the backing of US & EU.

It was Georgia that attacked and killed civilians & Russian peace keepers in S.Ossetia. Majority of S.O's hold Russian citizenship. So once provoked retaliation was imminent.

The problem is Russians seem to be advancing inside Georgia, they have shelled a military base near S.O but the fear is they are heading towards the capital.

So let me get this straight so just b/c US says so it is acceptable to kill innocent civilians in S.O. There is no doubt they don't want to be part of Georgia, so how is that different from Kosovo.

There is also no doubt Russian response is too aggressive and it is disproportionate, and no doubt Russia must be stopped. However how is this different from two years ago, when Israel totally destroyed Beirut, which is commonly condemned by the world, except Us & Bush. So in that instance massacre of innocent civilians was acceptable, what Russia is doing today in retaliation is virtually nothing what Israel did to Lebanon.

OK now sending troops to Georgia against Russia, you want US to commit suicide. There is a lot more than meets the eye, this is just a small part of the friction, a lot is going behind the scenes.

This was simply to test Russian response, Russian response is clear, it will defend its own interests any means necessary. There is a lot more to the conflict, in other words control. Georgia wanted to join NATO, something completely unacceptable to Russia, but widely supported by US. Then US missile shield in Europe. Which Russia has completely warned against.

Then the control over OIL, Russia recently out maneuvered US and strengthened its control over Caspian OIL. Then the matter of Iran, of course Russia among rest is very suspicious of US motives. Then control over resources as both countries battling for global control and now joined by China. There is simply a lot more going on that we don't know about.

Bush wanted for EU to take an aggressive stance like US, which EU hasn't done, which suggests first EU doesn't want to be dragged into it by US and then they're not particularly happy with US motives either.

Any military aggression is simply impossible, rather suicidal, it simply wouln't happen. US is trying to push through a resolution, even if it does come for vote it'll simply be vetoed by Russia, maybe even China.

Only thing at this current moment that will stop Russia is relations with Europe. Relations have been escalating between Russia and US anyway, so US has virtually no influence. Australian prime minister has noted to be saying, there were heated arguments between Bush and Putin.

So highly unlikely Russia would take it any further, but certainly would return S.O. and they have their full support anyway. Behind the scenes Russians and US will wrangle, and Russia will certainly make it clear, and I  certainly see this escalating politically. There is no way Russia is going to tolerate US influence around itself, and has already warned US that Russia will strengthen ties with Cuba.

The problem here is not if this war would escalate but the fear the frictions might lead to 2nd cold war. Georgians simply shouldn't have provoked Russia.
