  1. Ask the principal if there is a school policy that states the teacher can ask for this. If there is none, he can't ask

  2. That's unethical. He is wrong for asking that.

  3. Wow.  Never heard of that.  Maybe he's trying to get across the importance of having insurance, but quite frankly, that's none of his business.

I'm assuming that you use a school car for your driver's ed course?  That info is private, and isn't to be given out to anyone except your agent and the company that provides the coverage.  The only exception is a) you need to show proof of insurance to register your car and b) you need to show it when you get in an accident.  However, even then all you should give is your policy number - let your company give out any coverage details.

Actually, giving out info like that could affect your coverage - some companies will actually negate your coverage if you give out info (like policy terms and coverage amounts) without their ok.  This can be tantamount to admitting fault if there is an incident (which, in some cases, can also negate your coverage).

Drivers ed schools - as well as public schools - are required to have their own coverage.  Anything you do (or don't do) while under their instruction is something that they are held responsible for, not you or your parents.

Tell your drivers ed teacher that he needs to ask your parents for that info, as it's not yours to give out.  Have your parents direct him to your agent, and let him have fun trying to get it from them :)

  4. Perhaps he is trying to see if he can get you a better rate...in an unethical way.

  5. That is PERSONAL INFO.......So now you can blackmail him by saying "I wont tell the principal if you give ma an A+"

  6. wow i agree with the first person who replied he shouldn't even be asking a question like that

    you should tell your principle

    or parents

and they can see why he is wanting the information
