Its really annoyed me.

I'm 17 and I got my first wage slip yesterday. I have worked 20 hours on £5.75 an hour totaling £115.00. From that I have been taxed £24!!!

For me that is 4 hours work, one whole day of me working has gone straight to the god d**n government!!!!

I understand that this is life, but I thought there was something against taxing a working class kid under 18?

Basically thats all I want to know, can I actually get taxed if im only 17?

Thanks

  1. You're paying too much tax. Contact HMRC and get a code number issued to your employer.
