i asked out the boy im with and hes shy so he wouldn't have ever asked me out and maybe we wouldnt have ever dated and today we have 4months

It is definitely Ok. Most men like to be asked. It takes some of the pressure off of them. so go for it. The worst that can happen is that he will say no. The guys have been experiencing for years and they survived, so knock yourself out.
