i saw in TV that the newyorkers are now using cycles instead of cars.Is it time for all of us to change?

If your regular route is safe for biking, I say go for it.  Every penny saved is a penny saved.  Not only that, but you don't add wear and tear to your car, so you're a little further ahead than just avoiding burning gas.

No.  It was time at least three decades ago.

When i lived in Boston, the bicycle was by far the fastest way to get around town.   When i lived in Philadelphia, the bicycle was by far the fastest way to get around town.  Philadelphia police had several officers patrol by bike.  I would say it's quickest in Detroit, but Detroit has nowhere that i want to go.

But if you haven't started biking around town, it's a good time to start.  If everyone biked or walked places, there would also be health benefits - reduced diabetes, heart disease and such.
