Is it rude or correct to type a friendly letter?

Use of a fountain pen is always shows more care & attention but type is easier to read sometimes.

It is not rude to type the letter provided you sign it by hand.

Now it's probably considered okay to type a letter to a friend but it's more sincere to write one. Personally, it doesn't matter either way to me because it's a letter -- the thought that counts. :)

I don't really know the proper "Miss Manners" answer for this one, but I tend to write extremely long, newsy letters, so I like to type them.  I have lots of cute printer-friendly stationery to make them more personalized.  Then I always draw in little smileys & hearts here and there, and sign my name with a colored pen.
