I don't mean to be rude, but sometimes my teacher just doesn't seem like she knows what she is talking about. She is always making gramatical errors when forming sentences, and that's when I usually correct her. I am trying to stop but at other times she will give the wrong information! I think the students, including myself, deserve to know the right stuff. I usually read the book before the lesson and that's how I know she's wrong!

  1. If you are in college, you should be an adult. So you shouldn't say something like "not supposed to correct adults". You are placing yourself in the position of a child, which you are not.

I wouldn't say correcting her grammar is rude, it is awkward. You make yourself look bad because other students also heard her mistakes. So when you correct her, you are implying that the other students need you to tell them there was a mistake.

As for the "wrong information", it is possible that she is "right" and the textbook is "wrong". Textbooks are written by people. In college you learn there is no absolute truth, and you'll find that professors don't always agree with each other.

By the way, if you don't think she knows what she is talking about, you should drop the class.

  2. Don't worry about it. You should correct them it's for their own good.

  3. i think you should report the teacher if s/he is making a mistake in information to the dean.

regarding the incorrect grammar, i wouldnt mention it to the teacher, they probably dont care. mention that also to the dean.

  4. If you do it constantly not only will you seem rude, but you'll also be a pompous tool. If you say nicely "I don't understand, the textbook said this". Or even better, you could talk to the teacher when she's not standing in front of the class. If you just say your wrong, without giving a reason than your just a tool. You should also take into account that the textbook is not always correct, depending on the subject. There many ways to do things, so it's always best to ask a question not just tell someone they're wrong.

  5. youre the annoying student who always inturrupts to correct them when no one cares and eeryone hates the people who do that.

  6. I've subbed in classes where the kids get rewards for catching a teacher's error. I don't think it's wrong at all as long as you're not coming off like a smart a**. In CA teachers have to pass SO many tests after college just to get a teaching credential that it's hard to believe a teacher would be making grammatical errors, but if she does you owe it to the other students to correct her gently. Raise your hand, wait to be called upon, and use a calm voice. Don't blurt it out like a spaz or the teacher will get annoyed.

  7. It is not your place to correct teachers/professors/parents for grammatical errors. If you feel, however, that the teacher is really giving incorrect information then ask her to clarify her statement since there seems to be something else stated in the textbook. Give her to understand that you only want the correct information. Make sure to be polite about this so that the teacher doesn't feel that her authority is being questioned. If the teacher continues to give out incorrect information then you could talk with the principal about this, pointing out what she said and what it says in the book about the same thing.

  8. You shouldn't correct grammatical issues, unless they interfere severely with comprehension. However, when it comes to information, it's not too rude to correct her, as long as you're doing so not to be a smart ***, but just to help fellow students.

  9. No you should not correct an adult unless you are an adult and even then only when it is neccesary or the prudent thing to do .
