  1. It means you fought to get it for her. the fact that you didn't sell your soul to get her it should mean something to her.

  2. Why would it be rude?  I'd say she's darn fortunate to be receiving a diamond necklace at all, forget about where you obtained it (as long as you obtained it legitimately/legally!).  It's not customary to tell the person receiving the gift where the gift was purchased, anyway.  IMO, the only people who tell where they purchased a gift are people who are boastful and want to impress others in the wrong way - you know what I mean?  Don't worry about it.

  3. It would be really great if you hid them inside of a bag of chips or (something a little less messy), so that when she opens it she can find a small box with a diamond necklace in it :)

But make sure you watch her open the bag of chips so she doesn't discard it , in thinking that it is just a plain ol' bag -o- chips :)

Happy B. day to her & have fun

  4. No if she says so DITCH HER! It is really the thought unless she is a gold digger or pretentious snoot!

I would cry if my boyfriend did that for me. I pay for most things.

  5. I would think it's more rude to sit there and tell someone where you got their birthday present....it's suppose to be the thought that counts not the present itself..........

  6. No its not, How will she know anyway, its not necessary to tell her where you got it from...Hopefully the diamonds are real

  7. Why do you even tell her where you got it?  It is rude to ask where you got it.  I mean, what does she think you did, rob a jewelry store, mug an old lady?

  8. No!  In fact, I told my BF to never pay retail prices for jewelry unless it's a diamond engagement ring.  I encourage him to shop on eBay.  He hates to shop in stores.  He's done very well by me and I love to wear the VERY nice things he buys for me.

Some tips:  Make sure you check the seller's feedback!  Search for and read any negatives.  Make sure you ask questions - never assume something that is not specifically stated in the ad.  Always pay with PayPal.  That way you have some financial recourse if the transaction does not go well.

  9. hmm not really so long as you don't make out it is a new piece...

Lots of Jewellery (nb aussie spelling NOT a mistake) shops sell *estate Jewellery*... items that are often antique/second hand ...

you could always say that you find that so much of what is sold in shops IS ALL THE SAME AND NOT very special and that you wanted to get her something Unique ( providing it IS lol)

  10. absolutely not- as long as it's expensive.

  11. Dangle it in front of her pretty face....you will see her answer.

Very thoughtful. Women like gifts. It reminds them they are cared about.

  12. Who could possibly consider Jewelry purchase impolite? Not the Jeweler who sold it - or at least if he takes offense, he will tolerate you offending him like that every day if you like.

Another Jeweler, from whom you did not buy the necklace may take offence. If he does, tell him to lower his prices.

Buying jewelry for someone else's girlfriend may be considered rude by her boyfriend, though probably less so by her.

Buying jewelry for your own girlfriend is almost never considered rude, unless it actually spells out something like "You're dumped" or "Your breath stinks" in Rindstones. In additiion, she will probably see it as successfully conditioning you to buy jewelry on command.

Don't tell her you got it on ebay; it's not Germaine. If she does find out, tell her it was an auction, and you paid over the odds. Girls tend to be inconsistent about whether their mind focuses on "ebay" or "diamond necklace".

Try presenting her with the necklace as "you thinking of her".

  13. Where it came from is not important; and you can get some wonderful things through eBay.  The important thing is the gift and the giving of it with love.
