Is it rude to do a number two in the McDonald's bathroom?

I was eating at McDOnalds and this couple was sitting next to me. The woman came out of the ladies room and said to her husband, "Someone is doing a number 2 in the ladies room - how rude!" Why is this rude?

No, it is not rude to do #2 in the ladies room. When you gotta go, you gotta go. You never know when nature is gonna call. Sometimes, you can hold it and wait till you get home and sometimes you cant. Maybe the person who did it was on a road trip and this was the closest place. What is rude is when you make a comment about someone doing #2.

The best reason I can think of for her thinking that is because she's a woman, and because she has some funny logic.  I'm assuming you're a guy, and being a guy, you know that public men's rooms usually have both urinals and toilets.  Even if you're not a guy you know this.  The urinals are for going #1 quickly, and the toilets can be used for that too, but they're also the only thing you can go #2 in.  Women, however, can only go #1 in a toilet.  She's probably uncomfortable with going #2 in general.  I, for one, feel absolutely mortified if I'm taking a dump and anybody in the bathroom can hear me (and I'm a guy!), but that doesn't mean I think it's rude, it's just my own peculiarity.  Besides, it's something every human being has to do.  Anyway, I'm thinking she probably got it in her mind at some point, since the human body does #1 more often than #2, that public ladies' toilets are a courtesy for that, since women use only toilets for that.  She also probably got it in her mind somehow that in polite society that's ALL they should be used for and that going #2 in them is going too far and constitutes rudeness.  However, that's not correct, and has much more to do with her own odd logic than general etiquette and politeness.  It's like a friend of mine who said he doesn't call his friend's parents by their first names because that's disrespectful, but he doesn't call them Mr. or Mrs. whatever because that's too formal for your friend's parents.  So he doesn't call them anything.  His odd logic makes him read too much into etiquette and politeness, and resultingly he comes up with something that doesn't really make any sense.  The woman is the same.  After all, has she NEVER had to go #2 when she wasn't anywhere near home?

Maybe she can't help feeling that way, but I think she should keep it to herself.

That lady was too sheltered growing up. Unless there is a sign that says "Number 1 only" of course you can go #2. When you gotta go, you gotta go! I mean if you don't flush then THAT is completely rude and gross and I wouldn't use the restroom then.

I dont think it is rude at all. This is a public place, when u gotta go u gotta go. Perhaps such prudes should not being eating at such a fine dining establishment as Mickey Ds.

It's not. Some people are just sensitive and believe others should poison their insides to accommodate this sensitivity.
