    where are you from??

i would pout money on it that your from America! (although i could be wrong, I'm a loose gambler!! haah!)

people have  a lot of wrong assumptions about Ireland!!

  4. no.irish eyes love smiling =)

  5. No, I don't think it's rude at all. I like it when people look me directly in the eyes.

  6. I don't know what part of the states UR from but, whomever is the "everybody who tells U yes" needs to clarify their definition of eye contact.

For 90% of people eye contact is a polite jesture.

Rudness is staring to the point of making someone uncomfortable.  "The sense of being stared at" when you can feel someone's eyes on you, usually not in a flatering way.

People know when eyes are upon them and when it's a glance or a blatent stare.  Some people are sharp enough to feel the thought behind a stare, and can turn around in a crowd and look you dead in the eye.  This is anywhere some people have a 6th sense for these things.

Walkin' past, having a conversation, " That's Perfectly Fine"

  7. Who on earth told you that?

I find the Irish very welcoming and I should know being Bristish and living over in Ireland for the last 2 years!

  8. No. Ireland is laid back unlike the UK, London being a prim example, you never make eye contact on the underground unless you want a fight.

  9. no.

    why??

  10. hi im irish and as everyone has said no. its not rude to make eye contact. infact irish ppl are very friendly. especially in the rural areas. every car that drives by each other the driver waves. and every person that walks by each other says hi to the other when passing.

granted in the city it is a little different as there are so many ppl you'd be waving all day!! but they are still ready to help. its like any other place there is nice and not so nice ppl. but to answer your question there is nothing in our culture that would offend us with regards to eye contact.
