  1. Unless you plan on leaving it in the glove box when you stop for coffee, then it is safe for the baby as it would be for anyone else, be they one week old or 50 years old.

  2. Will you be in any condition to drive 4 hours only one week after giving birth. Why not wait a few more weeks?

  3. As long as you don't put them in the trunk I guess.

  4. Actually, the more you walk and move around from day one, the quicker you will get over childbirth. With my first, I rested a lot and was weak and sore for days. With my second one, I stayed up until I was tired and I felt great the first day. Judge all of this yourself after you have the baby. You're the only one that knows how you are feeling.

Now for the trip,  it is safer for the baby than for you but there are things you can do to make it more pleasant. You should stop frequently and walk around to loosen you up so you won't be sore. Also, if you had a C-section this stretching and walking around will alleviate any blood clots you might have developed (it is NOT usual to develop blood clots, this is just a precaution). The more stops you make the better you and the baby will feel. By the way, there is no danger to the baby, it just needs you!

Have a safe trip and enjoy!

  5. Many people dont recommend mother or baby to drive in a car for at least to weeks. I just had my son last week and I could not imagine driving to the corner store, let alone a four hour drive. However, if you feel up to it you should let ur husband or someone to doing the driving while you attend to the baby at the back seat.

Nothing is wrong with taking baby out, its just you have to becareful so they wont get sick since their immune system is not strong yet.
