Is it safe for a 13 year old to take food supplements?

I want to take these ones:

ABCplus- mult-vitamin and mineral formula

Omega-3

Iron w/ + vitamins+minerals.

  1. I`d try a meal replacement, like Vector, or a drink like Boast ...It has calories and fiber.. It`s best to try to stay close to the natural source if possible.


  2. No it is not you should get all the vitamins, etc you require from eating a healthy diet.

  3. well it is fine for you to take a supplementary.it will not effect yr health.i mean every food supplements that have been made have the dose, so you dont need to be afraid, it will not affect yr health.it is good for yr health.you can take the multivuitamins especially vitamin C.it is very vital.then omega 3 also good.then for yr menstruation i suggest you take Evening Primsome Oil or EPO.it is good for female, for the skin, period and etc.

    but with basic square meals you should be fine.... I would recommend taking omega 3 though, it helps your skin stop bacteria building up that would then lead to pimples.

  5. A 13 year old shouldn't need food suppliments if they are getting well balanced meals. It is only if there is a known deficiancy that they are needed. as we age we can become deficiant in these things. I would check the back of the packs to see if there is an age warning on them.

  6. a person of your age has a different recommended daily intake for certain vitamins/minerals that to adults, and too much could be not good for your health.

    I suggest to first try and find some supplements that are formulated for teenagers - i know they do make them , a particular brand comes to mind Swisse Ultavite teenace- they sell them here in australia so i'm guessing they sell them where you are too, i guess america.  Go talk to your doctor or a dietition so they can help you make the right decision.

    those choices look good, i would also invest in a B12 and folic acid supplement too, if you are vegetarian, if not, it's still good to keep up your body's stores with these 2 particular vitamins. especially folic acid for females.
