  1. I tend to think you'll have a lot less trouble with a kid.  Mexican guys can be a bit aggressive, but they respect families and mothers.

As for safety...I don't know. I never felt very unsafe in Mexico, except in Mexico City, border towns, and some of the larger places, but Mexico does have high crime statistics.  It probably depends on where you are, just like in the US.

  2. Uh, no...You can be kidnapped and never be seen again...I'm a male, and I would'nt go there alone. In fact, I would'nt go there at all.

  3. You got a lot of idiot questions from people who have never been to Mexico!  Is it safe to go to the mall in Omaha?  Well, crime happens everywhere!  If you use your brains, dress and act conservatively, and with confidence, you will be fine.  Do not travel at nite, do not hang out in bars or  with drug dealwes...sound practical?  Well, what I am saying is to use your common sense like you do anywhere.  Border towns have much more crime than the rest of Mexico.  I fyou are using public transportation, sit by women, if you speak Spanish, speak with them.

  4. Hey there!

As a general rule I would say yes, it is safe. There are many places in Mexico that cater to American's and other tourists. Most of these hot-spots (Cabo, Cancun, etc.) are well staffed and safe for all tourists.

That being said, a word to the wise: Some other places in Mexico that are more off the beaten path or renown for their rough reputation (ex. Tijuana) are not safe for a woman and her child to travel alone.

Also, various behaviors can attract unwanted attention such as flashing large amounts of money, venturing off the main streets, taking unreliable public transportation, or being out extremely late at night. All of these place you in a more vulnerable position and should be avoided if possible.

    Good Luck!

  5. No some wacko or fundamentalist Terrorist may not like what you are doing.

  6. R u crazy ?

There is more crime down there in the whole Mexico than in our own jails

Thats why they are all leaving their own country and coming here to take our Jobs and welfare!

    get out the Plutonium

  7. me and my 4 year old flew to guadalajara mexico last year and stayed 2 weeks with her daddy and his family with no problems.

  8. ABSOLUTELY NOT

    especially if you are white

    end of story

  9. It's not safe, but without husband and child it's fan :)

  10. Of course it's safe, it's as safe as staying in the US.

  11. depends to what part of mexico they go. ex- if you go to the bronx in NY it wont be safe, but if you go to a nice place in wisconisn it will probably be.

specify and ill tell you what cities and states are safe

  12. thanks for the answers. I plan on being there first week of December, going to Cancun.

  13. It's not safe to travel anywhere alone with a child.

  14. Yes! Of course it is. I've done it many, many times myself - alone along the border with my young son (from infancy to age 5); again with my two boys (when they were a newborn and a 6-year-old); and just recently with my now-1-year-old son.

Don't listen to the scaremongers. You're just as safe in Mexico as anywhere in the States. If you'd like specific advice, let me know where you intend to travel to.

  15. In one word: NO!

If you are staying within a reputable resort, then that is "somewhat" safe or at least safer than travel outside the resort community.  Traveling without a male escort (husband) can be a challenge in itself.  Traveling alone with a child will add to that challenge immensely.

I wouldn't recommend it.  Travel sans the kid would be a safer option.

There is a lot of good info out there about safer, solo travel from a womans perspective.
