I want to travel to egypt alone and visit the pyramids!!! I am 23 year old American male (caucasian) and want to buy my ticket and rooms. However, many people I know are telling me not to go because it is so dangerous being a muslim country and I am going to die!! I do not understand this. I hear so many people going there and loving it. Should I be that worried? I do not want them preventing me from my dreams and seeing something truly specatacular? I would appreciate your advice.

  1. Egypt is safe for anyone anytime

  2. sure ...why not.....if dangerous will happen it will not happen to american only

  3. Sure, you're going to Egypt, not Iraq (well, to put it better, Iraq nowadays).

    Cheers,

  4. Oh god, do people actually have the: Muslim= terrorist approach? And there was me thinking South Park was lying.

I'm going there, alone, in a week, and I was there a month ago. Seriously, when they see you they wont be think: "Ahh an American, lets kill him. Praise Allah". They will be thinking: "Ah an American, lets try to sell him stuff". Yeah, to them you are just walking money.

The place is full of tourists, and it is tourists that keep the country afloat, and so they realise just how important we are.

I'm British, and have just found out that America is the number one country for British people to be murdered abroad. Egypt didn't make the list. And if this doesn't deter me from going to America, than you definitely shouldn't be deterred of going to Egypt.

  5. heheh do u still have people in your country who think that way, who think that being in a muslim country is dangerous because it's full of terrorists and sooo, oh my god...i donno wt to say...listen dude, egypt is the safest country in the world, and i mean it so hard...and if u or others heard about some terrorists accidents before, u have to know that this may happen everywhere, terrorism has no country and no religion...

i courage u to come, u wont regret, u will enjoy to the fullest, i have a lot of friends from all over the world who came here n really enjoyed a lot, just don't listen to these nonsenses and do whatever ur heart tells u :)

u will be welcomed in our beautiful country :)

  6. Don't worry Egypt is very safe i am a 18 year old female and i travel over there on my own and going to move over there very soon.

Egypt is a majority Muslim country with Christians as the minority but the all live happily together.  Ask you self do the people who have told you these things ever met a Muslim or know Muslims?  Muslims are very kind and caring people not what is portrayed in the media.  You are not going to die you will be perfectly safe.

The Egyptians see tourists every day Cairo see thousands of tourists daily.  The Egyptians are very friendly, funny, helpful there will be no problem.

I honestly would book your ticket and rooms and start packing and discover what Egypt is really like.  I know many females who have traveled alone so you will be fine as a male.

Have a really good time if you go.

  7. The people who are telling you not to go probably have never traveled to a Muslim country let alone have been to Egypt. Do not listen to them! I just traveled to Pakistan and im a White American Female! I was perfectly safe and had no Issues. I know Egypt is much safer than the country I just came back from! I say go, make some Egyptian friends, have them show you around and stay out of trouble! If I had the funds to go to Egypt I would go right now to see the pyramids, I wouldn't want to miss out on something like that!

  8. Cairo is safer than New York by far!

Top five reasons why Egypt is safer than the USA:

    1.   Police here carry machine guns not .35's

    2.   If you get caught doing something wrong they believe whole heartedly in corporal punishment. Example: a rapist here might loose his balls and/or his life.

    3.   American passport holders are safer than most egyptians in egypt because of the business relationships between the countries. The departments of state don't want an "international issue"

    4.    Egypt has a special army for protecting tourists called the tourist police. They are the guys in the white uniforms that you will see everywhere.

    5. Egypt doesn't allow average citizens to carry weapons. Not like the usa where any thug can get an AK.

I am so sad that my fellow americans are trying to fear monger. tell your officer friend to stop watching so much Fox news and then book your ticket. I am a woman who traveled alone to Egypt twice and then decided to stay and married my husband here.

Just try not to pay to much for people inflating prices for tourists. When someone gives you a price automatically knock off 1/3 and offer this (taxis, trinkets, horse/camel rides, sodas at tourist locations etc..)

  9. yes its the SAFEST place..........we dont hate christians.......even my neighbour is a.chistian and there is nothing wrong

  10. It's very safe no worries.. I went to Egypt alone at 17 (and I'm American AND a girl) three years ago and everything was totally fine! The people are really friendly and will help you.. you won't be in any danger at all. :)

The people who told you that are probably just paranoid with all thats going in the world today.. I've been going to Egypt in the summer for the last three years and I've really had no problem. I gained lots of awesome friends and had an awesome time there. Believe me, everyone will be nice to you and you will have a blast! Just remember to apply sunscreen, try to keep out of the sun in the early morning especially, and always drink bottled water! I hope you enjoy your time there, you won't regret going! :)
