Is it safe for my daughter to have a webcam?

I was watching on the news and it said that people can see you on webcam. My daughter has a webcam and she likes to do webcam with her cousin from new york. Is it safe for her?

well, it depends. If your daughter has a boyfriend, and during chatting, with webcam, she's naked or else. Then when she dump her, he could put those images on the net. As the cases, search through over the net. Just tell her not to give such views anyone.

It is very safe infact, the person trying to view her has to have permission in order to view, if she is little, I suggest you look at what shes doing just incase for saftey!

Actually it is not really safe, there is ways to "hack" a webcam, by using exploits, or even software. There is ways to conduct this, its really easy.

let your daughter get on the WEBCAM when you are around her. But, connecting her laptop to your computer could possibly help you. you can open her convo and look at what she is doing and talking about.

While it is possible to see a webcam on a security compromised computer, if your computer is virus and malware free, and you only use the camera when talking with cousin. It is safe... If you are worried about it, cover the camera with a cloth, or unplug it when not using it.

depends on how your internet access is setup. If your behind a firewall router then your safe, if your connected straight to the 'net then your not.

yessssss it is safe!, if she doesn't accept webcam view with a stranger then it is fine. she is using it with her cousin, so only her cousin can see her!
