Is it safe for my guppies?

Today I tested the water lefvels in my tank and found that the nitrite levels and ph range was extremely high. I don't know how long it had been that way so I immediately went to the store to get a tetra product to help and i got easybalance with nitrate reduction granules as well as aquarium salt.

When I got home I transfered my guppies into a bowl(I didn't have another tank) and put some salt in it to sooth their gills. because that's what the salts said it would do.

Anyway I changed out about 50%of the water and added the water treatment as well as the easy balance nitrate and a teaspoon of aquarium salt. And I put the filter back on.

Will it be safe to return my guppies to their tank or should I wait.

Did I do everything right? Please please help I love my little fishies and I couldn't stand to lose them.

  1. guppies need heat to live

a bowl is cold unless you have a heater there

    so get them in heat

  2. Get the fish back into the real tank and do water changes.  The products you mentioned are c**p and no substitute for maintenance.  Until you can get the nitrite levels to 0 ppm, you will need to do daily water changes.  A bit of salt will help the fish to not uptake the nitrite, but water changes are MUCH less work!
