  1. no way!

    1) someone finds it, and they could get hurt if they don't know it's loaded

    2) if STUDENTS cant take guns to school, teachers shouldn't be an exception

    3) why would you even take a gun to school?

    =]

  2. I'm a teacher.  First of all I wouldn't work at a school where I would feel it necessary to bring a gun.  Secondly, no...I don't feel that it is safe for teachers to take guns to school.  If kids are smart enough to be able to sneak their own guns in (even past metal detectors) then they're also smart enough to be able to steal their teachers gun if they know he/she is bringing one in with them.

  3. Absolutely not safe, if they somehow got aggressive, they might harm the kids, and if the kids et their hands on it, *alot* of people can get injured / killed. Worse, what if the gun was loaded 20 rounds?

  4. There is only one small town in which they just passed a law to allow teachers to bring guns to school.  It is not a widespread practice!  Right now, that town has declared it legal.  We'll see what the higher courts have to say (it just happened, so no one has tested it yet).  I think it is a disaster.  The first time either a teacher gets shot with his/her own weapon, or a student gets shot accidentally, just wait for the outcry from the same people who wanted the guns "for protection".

  5. that should not be ok. a kid could find it and someone could get hurt

  6. The exams that a teacher takes to school and locks up to use later in the day, are not safe.  They sometimes find their way into the hands of the students.

I would think guns would too.

  7. Is is legal in one Texas town.

Allowing teachers to possess firearms on their person is not something I look forward to hearing about.

    Why:

    1) Police officers are trained to carry guns and occasionally even they use them inappropriately.

    2) Nearly every teacher has been push towards their limit or will be at some point in their career. I would hate to see a firearm be at the ready when this occurs.

    3) Having only a single human to prevent the gun from getting into the hands of students...I sure hope the guns the teachers are carrying have biometric activation switches on them to prevent unauthorized use.

I do think the principal's office should have a firearm in a safe that special trained staff have access to. Once again a biometric security system (fingerprint or retinal scan) should be the only way to open the safe.

  8. As a teacher, I would not feel comfortable with anyone bringing a gun on to my school campus because you don't know what could happen...

  9. its not safe, the kids can get ahold of it and it can turn into virgina tech again

  10. Obviously, if they are permitted, it's legal.

Schools are often "Gun Free Zones"...which means 'Unprotected Targets' to some.

IF a teacher is trained to protect his/her students,OK.

Without a sworn police officer to protect the school, this might be an option.

  11. An art teacher can bring a staple gun to school.

  12. I have no problem with it.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that Harrold is a VERY small town. The

sheriff's department is 30 minutes away. The whole school district is

in one building. Were not talking about a hugeee school. Maybe

150-200 kids? Its a little Texas school thats not large enough to

have the proper security. And its not like the teachers are gonna sit

their gun on there desk for all the kids to touch. Its legal. And the teachers will be trained. Plus its not like all the teachers are going to have one.
