Hi, may i know if it's safe travelling to Dubai alone as a female for a holiday? And what are the safety precautions to take or things to note?

Also, what do the people do there and how high are the crime rates?

Please give me everything you know about Dubai or any good/bad experiences you have. I really need it.

Big ThankYou.

  1. YES!! Male or Female you'll be surprised how safe Dubai is!

    Crime Rates are LOW.

One reason because the punishments are HARSH and the jails are very unpleasant.

Drug and s*x offenses are treated the most seriously. At least one cocaine dealer was executed in the last 3 years

  2. Hi,

yes it is save for a woman to travel alone to Dubai. Dress decent and that's it. Not knowing when you plan to come, next week Ramadan starts and during the holy month eating, drinking and smoking on public places during the day is a big no no. Depending on the hotel you'll stay (if you come during Ramadan) of course non Muslims will served food. You just would sit in an extra area where Muslims won't not see you. On beaches, just get in the dressing room to drink or eat.

During Ramadan you still can go out, but you have to drink alcohol inside and there is no music.

    For tourists:

Good things about Dubai: some exorbitant buildings and landmarks, endless shopping opportunities, Indoor Sking, International Restaurants, etc, etc

Bad things about Dubai: lack of public transportation, lack of public bathrooms, rude (most) cab drivers, humidity, heavy traffic, reckless driving, many contruction sites, crime rate on the raise. Also when it was said that Dubai's crime rate is zero, that's not true at all. Dubai and the UAE in general do not have any terrorists threads, but crime does exist. There is human trafficking, robbery, rape, stealing, murder (sometimes), drugs, to much prostitution, etc. But compared to other countries it's much less.

From a tourist view you'll see Dubai different than living here. The service in hotels in general is excellent and in case your hotel has it's own beach or pools, you are good to go. Tourists love Dubai.

Saftey precautions: dress moderatly, means no super mini skirt, not bellyfree. Regulations are: beach wear at the beach and otherwise just normal clothes. During Ramadan you should wear short sleeves and a skirt that covers your knees while sitting down. (During the day, if you go out at night, it's something else).

Don't take a offered ride with a stranger. Use ATM maschines during the day at malls. Just the normal things you might do at home also.

If taking a cab, make sure you have small notes on you. Fives and tens. Cab drivers like to cheat on tourists.

What people are doing here? Well tourists enjoy their vacation. Depending on their interests they go to the beach, shopping, take trips to the other Emirates, go on a desert safari and do sports.

In case you will be visiting Dubai during Ramadan, you have to visit one of the traditionell Iftar Buffets and enjoy breaking the fast with others.

Said all this, the most dangerous thing in Dubai is to cross the streets! Be aware of this and be carefull.

Don't miss to visit the Bastakia Quater and other attractions:

Take care and have a wonderfull time in Dubai!

edit balthazo...: since when almost everybody is rich in Dubai??????????? Why do I only know rich people by name and not personaly? Neither me nor my friends are rich. Btw. the crime rate is not related to rich Emiratis, it's related to Russians coming to the UAE and Expats living here. But there also is crime within Emiratis which does not have anything to do being rich or poor. There are more than enough Emiratis living on a "normal" income. Where are you from?

  3. hahahaha It is more safe then most other places on earth including probably where you live. Crime rates are very less.

Don't wear too much revealing clothes. Don'y do drugs, No drink driving. ramadan is sterting from next week, so no eating/drinking in public during daytime.

Yes...Ramadan is a fasting time for muslims and you must not eat, drink or smoke in public during day time starting from next week. after sunset, there is no problem

  4. Its one of the safest countries in the world. No violent crime at all really, although there is a very small amount of car theft.

So many women wear quite revealing clothes, but it's always advisable to wear slightly more than you would back in the UK.

People here don't generally do a whole lot but shop, eat, and buy real estate and new cars. Generally weekend activity revolves around going to malls.

  5. dubai is actually, the safest place you can ever be in. i am a local citizen in dubai and i feel very comfortable.

ok shopping wise its the BEST; we have the biggest shopping malls in the world like (emirates mall)...it has a sky. &(dubai mall).

& the longest building the world. its like heaven.

living wise, i recommend (burj al arab) a 7 star hotel, or (jumairah beach); or you can settle by renting an amazsing villa in uptown.

its ganna an experience of a life time for you.

& by the way the crime rate is close to zero.

even if you slept in the streets with a prada bag no one will even think of stealing it, becuz almost everyone is rich.
