Is it safe parking at the pier when going on a cruise from Port Canaveral?

We are going on a Carnival cruise later this month and we are trying to decide what to do with our vehicle. Is it safe to park the car at the pier (meaning is it a secure area that is fenced in and not open to the public)? Have you had good or bad experiences parking at the pier? Since we are driving to Port Canaveral, are there any other alternatives to parking at the pier that you would recommend (such as staying at a specific hotel that lets you keep your car with them and they shuttle you to the pier)? We're newbies at going on a cruise so this is new territory for us. We've also just bought a new vehicle so we don't want to park any place where there is a high probability of it being broken into.

Port Canaveral has a semi-enclosed parking garage.  I was parked there 2 years ago, when Florida was getting their share of the Hurricane.  The car was in perfect condition.

We left our vehicle in the port parking lot for a week when we went to the bahamas in 2004. no problems at all. there r several hotels that will keep ur car and shuffle u to and from the ship but i think it costs aliitle more. i think we paid like 10.00 a day at the port. u shouldnt have any problems.i believe u have to stay in the hotel to leave ur car. good luck and have fun!!!:)

We flew in to Miami from NY...... we then chartered a bus from Miami (we booked it through Carnival) for the 45 minute drive to Port Canaveral.

Where will you be driving from? Why don't you call Carnival... perhaps they can also have a bus going from  wherever you are to Port Canaveral.

Have an awesome time....... I too am going on a cruise the end of this month...... but we are sailing from Miami.

You are going to absolutely love it ..... if you are going to Freeport and Nassau... you will love it..... when  you get to Nassau.......rent mopeds..so that you can take yourself all over the Island..... it is the best way to go .... then in the evening ......hit Senor Frogs..... ( Loved it..loved it...loved it)

have gone with carnivaal on several occasions the lots are as safe as anywhere else so go on your trip enjoy yourself and dont worry about your car as safe as it would be in your driveway
