  1. A lot of companies are going electronic now and when you go to get an application some will just give you a website to go to and fill out with your personally information.

While not 100% fool proof, there's some things to look out for.

    1) Ask yourself if this is a company you are familiar with.

    2) Call the company directly, if its a legitimate company there's a contact number you could reach them at and ask them if they even allow online applications and what is the correct way to access it. (People are able to create phishing sites that look like the real thing but forwards your info to the ID theft.)

    3) When online, make sure the website is secure, usually in IE and Firefox, there's a small lock like picture on the top by the website address or on the bottom right corner that shows the website having encryption to mumble jumble your information.

Like I said, not 100% fool proof but safer. Also, companies like walmart and kmart have computers within their stores that are designated for online job applications, maybe you can look for those in the company you wish to apply.

  2. Never give out the social security number online. If the company needs it they can get it from you personally.

  3. Only if it is a reputable source for instance the department of labor for your state. Other than that I would be very careful who you give your information to.

  4. it really depends. if its for a government website (.gov) or a major employer like walmart, target, blockbuster, mcdonalds then yeah. if it is for some guy in a different state who runs his own business, i wouldnt do it for anyting
