Is it safe to buy stuff on ebay? or How do I make sure it is safe?

I am trying to buy something off ebay and its my first time. I am not sure how legit ebay is. So I need a little advice. Thanks.

like the first person said, its a gamble.   i have been selling and buying on ebay for about 4 years and have only not recieved one item...luckily it was very cheap and not a necessity so it was ok.  

personally, i dont buy anything that doesnt have a pic..always read the persons feedback from items they have sold, this will give you a good view on if it is legit or not

I really think ebay is stupid ..many people feel that they are getting good deals.. when most the time it's not! If the item is something you can get elsewhere.. i would do so!

Check the sellers feedback. Read through it and make sure that the seller has several positive feedbacks that are RECENT, preferably in the last 2 weeks. Then read through it and see what previous buyers have to say about that seller. If there are any neutral or negative feedback, that should raise a red flag.

Next, make sure that the seller provides several pictures and a good description of the item you wish to purchase so you'll have a good idea what you're getting.

Another thing to remember is that the seller should indicate how much shipping and handling will cost. Does the seller provide insurance? How about a money-back guarantee? What about sales tax? This is important so that you'll know exactly how much you'll be paying should you win.

Ebay is a major marketplace online.

Check people's feedback score and what people wrote in the feedback The more feedback the better.

Plus pay for the goods using paypal, that way you always have a avenue to dispute beside negative feedback.

With these 2 things you will be 98% ok.
