The water in the water system in my city is always safe and clean to drin. About 6 days ago, they had to shut off out water for a day(only the water around my apartments) because there was a leak in the pipe. My dada already watnde me that when they turn the water back on it might mbe brown for a while because sometimes when they fix the pipes, alot of dirt will get in the pipes. So when the water was turned back o we had to let ALL the sources of water(dish washer, sink, washing machine, ect) run for a while because we had to let all the dirt out. ANd all the water was REALLY dark brown but it was completely cleared up about 2 days later. Do you think it's safe to drink water from the tap now?

  1. yeah. if u let the water run and sit it should be clean

  2. Yep!  It should be totally safe to drink.  The water treatment plant cleans the water before they distribute it, but they also put in a type of chlorine that stays as a residual in the water so that it remains safe all the way to your taps.  Opening up the pipes disturbs the line and releases some built up corrosion/oxidation.  Once your water begins running clear, you are getting good, treated water and all the "junk" has been flushed out.

    cheers!

  3. Yeah, if it is running clear now, it should be safe.
