Is it safe to drive a wagon with a out of square rear axle??........?

  1. From looking at some pictures I really don't see how you can drive it at all, it would not mount up to the original mounting points unless you have changed them.....


  2. You will almost certainly find a broken spring or hanger,or even a spring that has been overstretched and pulled out of position.Failing that ,it will be a broken u bolt and that is even more dangerous.NO DO NOT DRIVE IT.

  3. If you were to get stopped whilst driving it, the'd throw the book at you!

Many years ago I recovered a  7.5 tonne box van with the rear axle out of alignment after an accident, although the axle was secure and the brakes fully functioning I would not have driven it on a damp surface and the simple fact that I had a wonderful view from the left rear view mirror and absolutely no view from the right hand mirror made in dangerous to drive.

    I certainly wouldn't have driven it in today's traffic.
