  1. You don't need to drive in Cancun.  Tourism is the #1 industry there and there is lots of public and private (taxis, tours, etc.) transportation.  If you don't have to drive it would be one less worry.  Have a great trip!!

  2. It's very safe- and if you are staying in the Hotel Zone there are clean and inexpensive city buses driving continuously from early am hours till late at night.  You can easily go into the city and around town by bus.  Also most tourists speak English and many of the hotel staff do too so you can get help in either English or Spanish.  You can hire a driver but suggest you wait until you are there for a few days and then decide it you need one.

  3. Youll be fine, they arent cannibals.

  4. It would be the same as driving around a forest outside Oklahoma... -_-

The point is, everywhere is the same.

  5. Is very safe, it just could be a little confuse the signs are not so well located as in USA, but is really safe.

  6. Cancún area, and whole Quintana Roo state and Yucatán peninsula (which includes Yucatán state, Campeche state and Quintana Roo state) are in fact one of the more safe areas in México; it is safe to drive there. About you speak spanish, that helps and is great; I'm mexican, but from far away to Yucatán peninsula, I've been there and rented a car to drive around, and, even spanish helps, mayan is what you will hear in the area outside touristic Cancún. English is good, too; Quintana Roo is in the border to Belize, (english speaking country), many mayan people speaks the three languages.
