I am trying to find out if it is safe to drive from Vancouver to Baja and am just wondering what is meant when you say goodluck crossing the border? Do they give you a lot of trouble? It would just be myself and my 17 year old son travelling as well. What kind of problems can we run into?

When you buy the insurance for Mexico, do we need to buy it before we arrive in Mexico? or where can it be purchased? Can you reccomend any beautiful places to stay in Oregon and anywhere along the way.

Is it too hot to travel in the summer months? July August or September? what months would you reccomend?

thanks so much to any information anyone can offer!

  1. I did this drive in 1986 and it was great.

I went from I 5 to the coast at Portland and took U.S.101 through the state

When you arrive at the border you have to get F.M T tourist visas.

You will see insurance outlets all over the place.

You can also buy it on-line @ lewisandlewisinsurance.com.

Please do NOT travel in Mexico without insurance

The Baja is exempt from all the "Vehicle Policies" that apply to the rest of Mexico and the border towns,You can take your car without any problem.

As we are used to cool and damp weather you may find it hot but it will be a dry heat September may be a little less hot.

    Cheers Richmond B.C.
