I was involved in a car accident and i drive suv. My bumper got damaged and has plastic protruding out of it all over. Collision repair say it is safe to drive. And they make me drive with the damage bumper as the new bumper from the manufactures will only be available in another one month.I am concern is it a public safety issue what if any part of the bumper fly and hit the car behind me or hit the by standers on the road. I want to take this company to court if someone can guide me in the right direction. I will be really thankful.

  1. Take them to court for what?  To make them replace the bumper with a new one faster?  Even though they do not have one?  Even though it has to be ordered from the factory, and the factory can't send one until it is produced?  If you are so concerned with pieces flying off, use some duct tape on it.

  2. Since you are going to have it replaced why dont you have the repair shop cut off the bad part so that in the event that something happens you wont kill or injure someone, just ask them and forget about taking them to court, talking will solve alot of your problems......

  3. if it is still attached fully attached and not in danger of falling off, then yes you can drive it.  use some duct tape to cover the parts you think are going to fly off.

  4. Yes it is illegal!

Threre is a danger of it falling offm, and causing an accuident.

Source: Niece got into a rear end accident. Bumper was still on but hanging. Police told her,,she could only drive it home, till it got repaired.

  5. as long as the bumper isn't dragging on the ground or sticking out past the side of the car where it could hit people or objects, it should be safe.
