Is it safe to eat bread that expired July 12 if it was always in the fridge and there's no mold?

The package says "Best if Purchased by July 12" but there's no mold and it's been sitting in the fridge for a little over a week now. Is it still safe to eat?

  1. I do it all the time...its an old southern trick I was tought when I was younger.

I have found that although the bread has an expiration date, it is still good to eat after being in the fridge for about a month.

  2. Sure. As long as it tastes good. It says "best if purchased by" not "expired."

  3. yes. my mom does that all the time and we eat it and...well...I'm still alive

  4. should be fine.

  5. when u keep bread in the fridge in will last longer.  so if theres no mold go ahead and enjoy.

to make bread last even longer put it in the freezer...

it will be fresh as a daisy when it thaws out!

  6. As long as it was in the fridge and kept cold it should be fine, Thats why people freeze bread to keep it fresh!

  7. yeah you can still eat it if it doesnt have mold or anything just make shure it doesnt. if it tastes good and smells fine then eat it on the package it just says best if purchased by not used by so your good

  8. yeah its still ok but if it has mold than dont eat it cuz u can get sick but just try it u will be fine!!

  9. I have some in my fridge and I had it for lunch today...lol I feel ok and it tasted fine! Probably bad if it starts smelling funny or tasting weird tho.

  10. Says Best if Purchased by then, not Used by then...try one and if it tastes off, throw it away.

  11. That was like a month ago, so I'm gonna say no.

  12. YES EAT IT!!!

We keep ours in the fridge and eat it 2 weeks after the Sell By date.

  13. Yes, bread will never make you sick or hurt you even if it had mold. But the date on the package is just for freshness. It is still good after that date.

  14. as long as it seems ok to eat (smell/texture ect) it should be fine

but if it does make you ill its not my fault!

  15. Sure!!

I would toast it. I find that gets rid of any non-fresh-bread-smells.

  16. its fine if it has no mould, but its best to stay on the safe side.

  17. Yes I'm pretty sure it's safe to eat.  I have done that many, many times and have never gotten sick.

  18. my mom always said if it doesn't stink and nothings growing on it it's still ok to eat it. after 30 years i am still alive .

You should be fine eating your bread .

  19. yes, it is fine!

  20. NO!  You'll get very sick, that's more than two weeks old!

  21. Check thoroughly for mold, but bread (particularly white bread, due to the additives) is generally safe to eat until any mold starts growing. I wouldn't recommending eating too much at once to be on the safe side, but I would not think it'd be bad.
