The cream cheese itself looks fine, no offensive smell. It's Kraft Philadelphia regular cream cheese, just wanted to make sure before I put it on some toast or anything.

  1. i ate some past its date nothing too bad happened but i did get a stomach ache later on but it went away

  2. I just used some that was past the date (it was not opened and hidden under some other stuff in my gross fridge) for a recipe, actually some brownies that called for cream chesse and it was fine...

  3. i wouldn't try it

  4. Don't eat the cream cheese. Its probally bad, when in doubt throw it out.:)

  5. I GUESS I JUST USE THIS AS A RULE OF THUMB... WHEN THE DATE COMES AND GOES, TOSS IT!

  6. Why risk it... Throw it away and buy some more...

  7. if theres no mold or bad smell it's fine.

think about what cheese is right, people say the older the cheese the better it is, right ?

    i'd say you're fine.

  8. smell it, if you dont faint then its good. and check for mold, if you see some just cut it off.  i guess if it was bad for you, you'll now in a few hours, but i think it should be good.

  9. Its a sell by date not an eat by date. Its for the store's use first for inventory. Its also good advertising because it makes people throw away perfectly good food and buy new stuff which makes money for the companies. If it was nver opened then there is no question it would be okay. If you already opened it and have it in a warm refrigerator then the sell by date is useless anyway and you will just have to see if it has mold growing on it. If its open and in a cold fridge then it should be fine for a long time, just maybe picking up odors from other food. Some cheese is purposely aged to make it "better". I don't think cream cheese is one of those but it could  be.

  10. Usually its a best if sold by date. If its sold on that date most people arent going to eat it all on that day. Cream cheese has a fairly long shelf life. Things you should be concerned with are things like contamination of crumbs from toast inside the container which could have grown moldy.

If its a new container of cream cheese and looked and smelled fine I would give it a week after its sell by date and I am fairly conservative.
