Is it safe to eat salad in the Algarve with regards to the water etc if it is washed in the local water.?

Also is the water safe to drink, first time going for me.

I lived in Portugal for 15 years, and although we bought bottled water for drinking, we had no problems with the water there, it just doesn't taste as good as British water. It is perfectly safe though, as the treatment systems are similar to our own. Washing sald is fine. I never had a problem.
