  1. if it is properly maintained and flown by a competent pilot

yes, it is just as safe as if you were flying in a big commercial jetliner.

the ride might seem less stable and turbulence more common but it does not compromise safety

of course, smaller aircraft can by brought down by turbulence that a big plane would have no problem in but if you have a competent pilot, that problem is non-existent because he will avoid zones of heavy turbulence to begin with.

also, small aircraft are more likely to make a successful emergency landing.

a open field, a stretch of road, is all that is necessary to accommodate an emergency landing of a Cessna

  2. Very safe.......................

According to the Census Bureau, in 1999, there were just over 2000 aircraft accidents in the U.S. , over 1900 of which were "small planes" engaged in personal transit.

Only 400+ of the total accidents involved fatalities.

Statistically, the most dangerous part of flying is the drive to the airport.

  3. Yes it is. You may not think so but i had the same question. It is safe if properly serviced and maintained. also a good pilot should be in charge. but yes they might not have as many fancy looking buttons as a 737 but it does not need as much technology. Even older Cessnas are stilll relatively safe. A ten year old plane is still considered new. unlike cars that are old after like five years. There are still some 1980 planes in serice still today( check an airliner website) Hope you feel safer now!!!
