Question:

Is it safe to get a second bearded dragon?

A lot of manuals will tell you that bearded dragons are social lizards. Lone bearded dragons kept in a tank will exhibit signs of social deprivation.

On the other hand, adult males will get territorial, males might stress females, and I've heard even females together can be aggressive.

My beardie is only a juvenile, so it's hard to tell what his gender is (I call him a he even though I don't know if he's a boy or a girl). It's also hard to tell what gender a new juvenile dragon would be, so I'm in a conundrum.

Is it all right for the bearded dragon to be alone in his tank? Or is it better (or safe) to get a second juvenile beardie?

  1. lol who the h**l told you there social males will kill each other and females will mate with the male and then the male eats the babies and attack the female

  2. It might be better to hold on on a second on. Since you don't know what s*x your is, you could be inviting danger by getting a second one. If another male they could fight and kill each other, if you have male & you get female they could mate and have little ones. If two females, maybe nothing bad happen, but you could still have fight from territorialism.  If you do decide to get one, try to get one about the same size.  If possible take your dragon with you when you go to pick out the new one so you can see how he will react to different dragons. If he instinctively tries to attack I wouldn't get one. If he doesn't then you could try it.
