  1. it could have toxic chemicals in it. also, i know you should never give them newspaper in their cage for flooring because of toxic ink chemicals so probably you should not give them inked cardbaord either. carefresh bedding which is soft newspaper crumpled up is safe because they extract the ink.  try givng yr gerbils empty toliet paper rolls. they love those! also, do you have boy gerbils or girl gerbils?

  2. No you should use the plain bworn because if you use coloured they might die cuz of the color?

  3. What colored cardboard are you thinking of giving them? I give my gerbils cereal boxes, and those have color. I've never had a problem and haven't heard of any problems from other gerbil owners. I don't think you mean the same thing, though. If the color doesn't run off when wet or you can't rub it off, it should be fine. Gerbils don't eat the cardboard, so it's pretty safe. However, if you're ever in doubt, it's probably best not to give it.

  4. It's not really safe the chemicals could harm them! It's best to be safe and use brown cardboard or chew toys.

  5. I wouldn't risk it.

Because humans don't chew cardboard, most companys don't use non-toxic ink in their packaging.

  6. Oh sure. Not a problem, if its brown. I am not sure about colored, but I dont know what you mean by that exactly.. if you mean like cereal box cardboard then thats fine. Otherwise i'm not sure on that. But the brown cardboard...yes.

I had gerbils, and those guys shredded cardboard so fast I couldn't believe it. My main source of bedding was cardboard infact, shredded by the gerbil himself!

To be safe, give em cardboard tubes (toilet paper tubes, or paper towel tubes) and they'll probably like it. Mine did.

  7. I wouldn't risk it sorry.

Even if the ink is non-toxic supposedly, it could be dangerous and you don't want to expose your gerbils to unnecessary risks ;)
