Ive put a authentic jersey ive wanted to sell on craigslist and the buyers want me to give them my info so they can send me a certified check. They all say that theyll send their "mover" to pick up the item. Im not sure how to look out for scammers but can someone give me some info on how to know if true buyers or not.

  1. ok scam i would have them meet you just say have the mover bring the cash only take cash and address ehh they could rob you meet at a public place

  2. That's a sure sign of a scam -- that they're sending you a check and that someone else is coming to pick up the item. By the time your bank tells you that the check was no good, their "mover" will be long gone with your jersey.

Don't give them a single bit of your personal information. Tell prospective buyers you want cash only, and meet them in a PUBLIC place. Never go alone. I've heard of some people who sell on Craigslist and arrange to meet in the police station parking lot. I've always thought that's an excellent idea.

  3. The other answerers and the buyers obviously don't know what Craigslist is .. meeting is the only way to exchange. What I do is give my phone number first, confirm they aren't scammers, and only then do I give out any more information. Happy selling! :)

  4. as long as the check arrives first and goes through fine, then how else are they going to know where to pick up your stuff!?  i think it sounds a little scammy...but sounds realatively safe.
