Is it safe to give out my VIN#?

I'm selling my car and a guy wants my vin # to check it on carfax....I have nothing to hide about the car but am nervous about giving him the #. Is it safe to give out my VIN #?

Yes, and people can publicly view it. As in some states it is law to have VINTAG in the front windshield visible at all times. THey only can find out information and history about the car. Not who owns it only you basic location, Town/City, State

Yeah, it's okay to give the VIN. Carfax uses it to trace the car, but not your personal info.
