Is it safe to go back into my room?

Ok, long story short. I got really pissed at a game and threw a water bottle at my fluorescent lamp (that had a cfl) approx 14 feet away from me, completely shattered part of the bulb. I am a extremely paranoid person when it comes to things that cause brain damage, and I am very well aware of the mercury in said light bulbs. I've so far waited four days without staying in my room for longer than 5 minutes. My question is: are the mercury vapors that came out of lamp settled over everything in the room? I left the window 5'-5.5' open for the 4 days, and cleaned up what i could find of the bulb (just half of it, the other half shattered). Am I still being exposed to mercury?

  1. There is no mercury in direct form in any mercury lamp.  They use some mercury compound that is relatively harmless.  No vapours.  Just clean with a broom, vacuum cleaner and wipe with a wet cloth.  It is now as safe as a sterilized room.

JUST RELAX AND ENJOY.....  NO HARM AT ALLL!!!!!!

  2. Check out the site below.  It tells you that there's little risk and how to clean up the bulb.

  3. well this shows you to control your temper, less things get broken.

  4. well i belive theres a lil test you can buy that can solve your problem...i dont no wut site or anything so you might check it out

  5. no watch out yo,,,u can die,,,boogie monsta still in there

  6. mercury in small quantities shouldnt do any damage. and if you cleaned it up thoroughly enough it should be fine to sleep in there. If you still feel unsafe you can call a poison control center. to get the number to one look on the back of a household cleaning product on the warning label

  7. call your local poison control center... they know this stuff!

  8. you kept your window open 5-5.5 feet O.o big window.

umm actually its not safe im sorry to say you need to contact poison control immediately

read this and check out the link in my source

"Compact fluorescent light bulbs have long been known to contain poisonous liquid mercury, but a study released earlier this year shows the level of mercury vapor released from broken bulbs skyrockets past accepted safety levels."

sorry to scare you but it is pretty serious but the short amount of time you were in your room shouldn't cause any damage to you or your brain

if your paranoid about it check up with your doctor to take a test

as long as you werent exposed to the mercury for a long time you should be fine

it says in the website i attached that most exposures only affect the elderly, pregnant or infants so if your an adult you should be fine

    still just call poison control

sorry about jaes90 hes just sad that i bagged on him and thinks saying bad things about someone will boost up his self esteem
