  1. Keep in mind just because its hurricane season dosent mean that there will be one when you decide to go.  I went to the bahamas last august and had perfect weather the entire time.  You just have to realize there is a chance that the cruise line will change its course to avoid a storm.  On the other hand big storms and choppy weather make for some great sleeping!! (due to the rocking back and forth)

  2. August IS hurricane season.  But you'll be perfectly safe on a cruise.  The cruise lines all have sophisticated weather equipment and can avoid storms - they don't want to risk their ships or their passengers.  You may not get to visit all your scheduled ports, and you may have some choppy seas, but you'll be safe.  You may even get some free cruise days.  It happened to us one year.  We cruised off the coast of Cuba while waiting out a hurricane.  It was a bit rough going into Ft Lauderdale, but otherwise we wouldn't even have known there was a hurricane nearby.

  3. The chance for severe weather increases during the month of August in The Bahamas and lasts until around September. Visitors should not be deterred by the threat of severe weather as there will still be plenty of sand and sun to enjoy during the month of August.
